Old Firm facts and figures

+ There have been 48 previous meetings between the Glasgow rivals since the SPL began in 1998/99. Celtic have won 21 times to Rangers' 17. There have been 10 drawn matches.

+ Rangers have won the first Old Firm game in each of the last three seasons but the overall record in the first SPL Old Firm match is five wins apiece with two drawn games.

+ No player has scored a hat-trick in a Celtic v Rangers game since Ally McCoist scored three times in the 1983/84 League Cup final, which Rangers won 3-2 after extra time.

+ There were red cards in two of the four Old Firm games last season - Scott Brown was sent off at Ibrox in February and Lee McCulloch was dismissed at Celtic Park in May.

+ Rangers won 4-2 at Parkhead in August 2008 and Celtic triumphed 2-1 at Ibrox a few months later but the home team have not lost in the six Old Firm matches in the SPL since then.

+ The first ever SPL Old Firm fixture took place on September 20, 1998 and ended 0-0 at Ibrox.
