The 22-year-old joins on loan from Fleetwood Town - he was with Liverpool as a youngster and has also played on loan at Chorley, Southport and Walsall.
Buddies boss Jim Goodwin told the club website: "Nathan is a great addition. He is coming as a holding midfielder but he can play at centre-half and has played at right-back in the past also."
