Forfar Athletic Director Alastair Donald has announced his decision to step down from his position as a SPFL Board director.
The move comes after he also chose to resign from the Forfar Athletic board, where he served as Vice-Chairman.
Montrose Director Peter Davidson, who already sits on the SPFL Board, will fulfil all the roles and functions of the League 1 and League 2 Director until the SPFL’s April General Meeting, when a replacement for Alastair will be formally elected.
Neil Doncaster, SPFL group chief executive, paid tribute to Alastair’s work across Scottish football.
He said: “Alastair’s immense contribution to the SPFL, to Forfar Athletic and to Scottish football has been enormously valuable. His lifelong passion for the game, combined with his integrity, insight and intelligence, has been hugely beneficial, as clearly recognised by his peers in re-electing him to the SPFL Board.
“It’s a mark of the man that he has decided to step down because he felt he could not fulfil the role to his extraordinarily high standards, due to other commitments.
“His wise counsel and infectious enthusiasm will be sorely missed, but we look forward to warmly welcoming him back to games when his schedule allows.”
Alastair Donald said: “Having been involved in Scottish football for 15 years, including three years on the SPFL board, I can honestly say it is one of the proudest periods of my professional career.
“Due to my other commitments, I can no longer afford the necessary time and dedication that both roles requires and therefore, regrettably, it is only right I step down.
“I would like to thank Neil, and all those involved with the SPFL for their hard work and help over the years and I will continue to champion Scottish football as a fan.”
