This follows a successful debut in the 2021-22 campaign which culminates with Sunday’s final between Raith Rovers and Queen of the South (Excelsior Stadium, 4.15pm).
In 2020, the SPFL Trust would first lend its name to the lower league cup competition with the support of donors amid the challenging Covid landscape.
That partnership will now continue into the forthcoming 2022-23 term as clubs and community trusts benefit from the agreement.
Backed by the charity’s benefactors, the SPFL Trust will continue to support SPFL clubs and their associated community trusts.
The SPFL Trust will use the trophy title partnership to activate a series of rights for community benefit, both via participating clubs and community trusts.
The charity will also use some of the rights to highlight flagship programmes such as Football Fans in Training, The Changing Room and CashBack Off the Bench. It will also support Scotland’s national suicide prevention campaign, United To Prevent Suicide.
Additionally, the SPFL Trust is set to reveal its new three-year strategy and the approach will be supported through the use of sponsorship rights.
SPFL Trust CEO Nicky Reid said: “We are delighted to be able to reveal our continued partnership with the SPFL Trust Trophy.
“The first year of our involvement with the tournament has been successful for clubs and community trusts across the SPFL.
“We are relishing our first final as the SPFL Trust Trophy this weekend - this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our donors.
“We’ve seen some of our highest ever periods of engagement during the competition, and that is why this competition, and the very community-focused nature of it is so effective. We know the power of football.”
SPFL CEO Neil Doncaster said: “We are delighted to be extending the SPFL Trust’s sponsorship of the Challenge Cup into season 2022-23.
“The SPFL Trust Trophy has quickly become a fundamental feature of the Scottish footballing landscape. It not only provides a hard-fought competition, but is an important platform to showcase and promote so much fantastic community work done by associated community trusts and supporters all over the country.”
The SPFL Trust Trophy Final between Raith Rovers and Queen of the South takes place at the Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie on Sunday 03 April 2022. Kick-off is at 4.15pm and the match will be broadcast live on BBC ALBA.
In order to make the day more affordable for families, to coincide with the school holidays, U12s go free.
Also as part of the matchday experience, the SPFL Trust will facilitate activities at the final for fans and to highlight the work being done in each club’s respective community.
Young supporters from each fanbase will accompany their heroes out of the tunnel as player escorts, with another acting as the ball carrier.
Participants in the Trust’s Festive Friends programme will be present on the day, while there will also be a 10-second half-time challenge involving the FFIT (Football Fans In Training) participants from both clubs.
Also during the interval, 40 children from the clubs’ youth systems will take part in an unforgettable experience as they play small-sided games on the Excelsior pitch.
A supporter giving out the Player of the Match award and Give the Glory - where a fan from the winning team will present the trophy to their club’s captain - will crown what should be a memorable day.
