The most famous forgotten football ground in the world, Third Lanark’s Cathkin Park, was used to film a scene for a short film that is being entered into a worldwide challenge.
Filmmakers are given just 48 hours to create a film from start to finish and the Glasgow ground was used to recreate a scene from 1980’s film Escape To Victory as part of a tribute to fictitious Scottish actor Cameron Stone.
Third’s chairman, actor Simon Weir, who has helped bring the club that died in 1967 alive again at an amateur level appeared in the film playing a Michael Caine lookalike said, “Third’s were playing a friendly against a Blanefield Select XI at Cathkin during the 48 hour period the film was being shot so it was a great opportunity to combine my two loves.”
“We all wish the Silly Wee Films Company all the best in their competition.”
