8,000th goal landmark in sight

The 8,000th SPFL goal will be scored this weekend, some three and a half years after Jonny Hayes claimed the first for Aberdeen against Kilmarnock.

The tally of league goals netted across all four divisions (excluding play-offs) currently stands at 7,999, an average of 2.86 per game.

Celtic have scored the most goals, ahead of Rangers and Hearts, with League 2 Annan Athletic fourth place in the list since the SPFL was established in June 2013.
