Aberdeen are out of the Europa League after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Maribor of Slovenia in the third qualifying round.

Adam Rooney saw a first-half penalty saved after he had been brought down by the keeper but the Dons were reduced to 10 men when substitute Jayden Stockley was sent off for two yellow cards, the second with half an hour to play.

Maribor were heading through on the away goals rule following a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie last week but claimed a 1-0 victory on the night in stoppage time when Graeme Shinnie's pass-back bounced over the foot of goalkeeper Joe Lewis and rolled into the net.
