Aberdeen have signed former St Johnstone and Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May on a four-year deal from Preston North End.

The 24-year-old Scotland internationalist could make his debut in Saturday's Ladbrokes Premiership game against Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium.

May told the club website: "I had made my mind up that I wanted to come to Pittodrie. When Alex Neil arrived at Preston he asked me to give it a bit more time but eventually we decided it was best for me to come here and play.

"It is what was needed. I want to go back out and enjoy my football again on the pitch. I know this is the place I can go and do that."
