Arbroath beat leaders, Elgin net five

Arbroath defeated Ladbrokes League 2 leaders Forfar Athletic 2-0 in a local derby at Gayfield to move into the play-off places.

The visitors had Jamie Bain sent off in the first half and the Red Lichties scored after the break through a David Cox OG and a Martin Scott goal.

Second-placed Elgin City thrashed Montrose 5-0 at Links Park to close the gap on Forfar to just three points. Darryl McHardy and Brian Cameron both scored twice and Shane Sutherland also netted. Gary Fraser and Callum MacDonald both saw red for the home side.

Clyde, in third spot, beat bottom club Edinburgh City 1-0 at Meadowbank Stadium with a 70th-minute goal from Sean Higgins.

Cowdenbeath hit back to draw 2-2 with Annan Athletic at Central Park with goals from Kyle Miller and Nikolay Todorov after Barry Cuddihy and David McKenna had scored before the break for Jim Chapman's team.

Stirling Albion and Berwick Rangers played out a 0-0 draw at Forthbank, with Kevin McKinlay sent off for the visitors in stoppage time.
