Archibald signs long-term deal at Firhill

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald has signed a new contract that will keep him at Firhill until the summer of 2019.

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald has signed a new contract that will keep him at Firhill until the summer of 2019.

Archibald replaced Jackie McNamara in January 2013 and has committed his future to the club, along with assistant boss Scott Paterson and managing director Ian Maxwell.

Chairman David Beattie told the Partick Thistle website: "Following three-and-half-years of constant progress, growth and development, we are now in a stable position to build something really special here over the next three seasons.

"That means that not only do Alan and Scott have the board’s full backing but we will also give them all the resource we can to ensure we go one step better next season and grab a top-six spot."

"Alan and Scott couldn’t do what they do without the support of Ian. He has done a tremendous job over his time here and was central to us being able to go debt free early in the season.

"With that experience, it is crucial to us that we keep him to ensure that we maintain our financial stability going forward. A business/football mix is rare in MDs running football clubs but we have that in Ian and it is certainly working in the club’s favour.”
