Ayr United beat Albion Rovers 3-1 at Cliftonhill on Saturday to close the gap on leaders Dunfermline to seven points.

Jordan Preston scored twice, with Ryan Stevenson also on target for Ian McCall's men, before Ally Love pulled one back late on.

Dunfermline were held to a 0-0 draw by third-placed Peterhead at Balmoor.

Stenhousemuir are up to fifth place after beating second-bottom Forfar 1-0 at Station Park with a first-half goal from Stephen Stirling.

Stranraer moved to within a point of Cowdenbeath with a 2-0 win at Central Park. Willie Gibson and Craig Malcolm (penalty) scored in the second half.

Bottom club Brechin hit back to draw 3-3 with Airdrieonians at Glebe Park. Jim Lister's opener was cancelled out by Lewis Spence and Robert Thomson and Darren Dods earned City a point after a Sean Crighton double had put the Diamonds 3-1 up.
