Striker Andy Barrowman has returned for a second spell with Dunfermline after leaving League 1 rivals Morton.
The 30-year-old has played for a number of clubs during his career, including Ross County, Inverness CT and Livingston and he is aiming to help John Potter's side win promotion.
He told the Dunfermline website: "Thankfully (Morton boss) Jim Duffy said that it could happen because there was a possibility that I could get involved in the coaching side of it as well.
"It was too good an opportunity for them to not let it happen. They recognised that it was a good opportunity for me and I made it clear that I wanted it to happen."
Dunfermline have slipped out of the top four ahead of Saturday's home game with Airdrieonians and Barrowman added: "I know that we slipped to fifth but that changes week to week. One result and the picture can look so different - every team is going to drop points along the way."
