The 40 clubs in the group stage are divided into eight sections of five and fixtures are played across five matchdays, with the group winners and four best runners-up joining Celtic, Aberdeen, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian in the last 16 on August 9/10.
All drawn games in the group stage of the new-look competition go straight to penalties, with the shoot-out winners receiving two points and the losers one point.
