Hearts have made former Dundee United midfielder Prince Buaben their sixth signing of the summer.
The 26-year-old has agreed a 12-month deal at Tynecastle after spells with Carlisle and Partick Thistle last season.
Head coach Robbie Neilson told the club website: "He's been at training for the last two weeks and has played in a few games for us. He's looking good and he's a top player.
"He is a good character as well and gives us a bit of strength - we've got some good options now in the middle of the park."
Hearts have also brought in Morgaro Gomis, Soufian El Hassnaoui, James Keatings, Neil Alexander and Alim Ozturk in the last few weeks.
