Burchill delight at final victory

Livingston player/manager Mark Burchill was thrilled to lead his side to victory over Alloa in Sunday's Petrofac Training Cup Final.

Livingston player/manager Mark Burchill was thrilled to lead his side to victory over Alloa in Sunday's Petrofac Training Cup Final.

Goals from Scott Pittman, Callum Fordyce and a double from top scorer Jordan White earned Livi a 4-0 win against their Championship rivals at McDiarmid Park as they got their hands on the trophy for the first time.

Burchill said: "I won the English Championship with Portsmouth and this is right up there with what I have achieved in my career.

"I've never been big on celebrations but I am delighted for the fans, the players and the backroom staff, although the guys will be back in at training on Monday to prepare for the Falkirk match on Wednesday so they won't be celebrating too much!

"When you are in a cup final you want to win it, it's as simple as that and now we have two big games against Falkirk and Cowdenbeath to look forward to."

Alloa boss Paddy Connolly said: "The first goal is vital but we didn't defend it properly and that knocked the stuffing out of us a bit.

"We hit the woodwork a couple of times at 2-0 down, which shows what a fine line it can be, then we were chasing the game for the third and fourth goals - but we are a resilient bunch and we will bounce back."
