Campbell named new Arbroath boss

Arbroath have appointed Dick Campbell as their new manager following the departure of Todd Lumsden on Sunday.

Arbroath have appointed Dick Campbell as their new manager following the departure of Todd Lumsden on Sunday.

Campbell left Forfar earlier in the season, having been in charge at Station Park since May 2008. He has also managed Dunfermline, Brechin City, Partick Thistle and Ross County.

The 62-year-old took charge for the first time in Tuesday night's defeat at Berwick, and Arbroath now face a big game against bottom club East Stirlingshire at Gayfield on Saturday.

An Arbroath spokesman said: "We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Dick Campbell, who is a vastly experienced and successful  manager. His assistant at Forfar Athletic, his twin brother Ian, will be taking on a similar role at Gayfield, while John Young will complete Dick’s backroom team as an assistant coach.

"The club would like to put on record their thanks to all who applied officially or noted an interest in the post and wish them well for the future."
