Celtic and Rangers meet at Hampden on Sunday in the second semi-final of the Scottish League Cup, presented by QTS.

The game is live on BBC Scotland, with a 1.30pm kick-off and the winners will play Dundee United in the final on Sunday March 15.

It is the first encounter between the teams since April 2012, when Celtic won 3-0 in the SPL, although Rangers had come out on top 3-2 the previous month.

Team news: Celtic are still without Charlie Mulgrew due to a knee injury but Aleksandar Tonev is available after serving a ban. Rangers keeper Cammy Bell is still sidelined with a shoulder injury and defender Bilel Mohsni is on international duty with Tunisia.

Recent form: Celtic’s 1-0 win at Ross County last weekend was a fourth straight victory without the loss of a goal. Rangers have been frustrated by the weather of late - since beating Alloa 1-0 on January 10 they have seen their home game with Hearts abandoned due to snow and their visit to Cowdenbeath postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Road to Hampden: Celtic saw off Hearts 3-0 at Parkhead in round three and thrashed Partick Thistle 6-0, also at home, in the quarter-finals, helped by a John Guidetti hat-trick. Rangers began the competition with a 2-1 win over Queen’s Park at Airdrie then saw off Falkirk 3-1, also away from home. Lewis Macleod was the matchwinner on both occasions as Inverness CT then St Johnstone were beaten 1-0 at Ibrox.

League Cup pedigree: Rangers have won the trophy a record 27 times, most recently in 2010/11 when they beat Celtic 2-1 after extra time. Celtic have won the competition on 14 occasions – their last success was against Rangers in 2008/09 when they triumphed 2-0 after extra time.

Past League Cup meetings: This is the first League Cup semi-final between the teams since 2001/02, when Rangers won 2-1 after extra time. Twelve months earlier Celtic had won 3-1 in another last-four encounter at Hampden.

Semi-finals: Rangers are appearing in their 49th League Cup semi-final and their first since beating Motherwell 2-1 four years ago. Celtic have reached 38 semi-finals, although they lost 3-2 to St Mirren in the most recent of those in 2012/13.

Referee: Craig Thomson
Assistants: Graham Chambers & David McGeachie
Fourth official: Calum Murray

Match programme: Large-size 100-page souvenir programme will be on sale, priced £5.
