It was one of seven meetings between the teams that season and four of them, including this one, came within a space of a fortnight.

Kris Commons opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark and United had skipper Sean Dillon sent off for a high tackle on Emilio Izaguirre early in the second half.

Substitute James Forrest made the game safe when he steered the ball home from the edge of the box with 11 minutes left but he later had a penalty saved by Radoslaw Cierzniak.
