Annan manager Jim Chapman has praised the maturity shown by striker Kenny MacKay who has turned down two offers of full time football to sign a new one year deal at Galabank. The 23 year old former Morton youth player made the step up to the senior ranks last summer from Greenock Juniors and after hitting 17 goals in Black and Gold colours he was in demand. Both Dunfermline and the Cappielow men offered MacKay full time football however MacKay has opted to stay put and continue his development under Chapman. The Galabank boss said: "Kenny could have jumped at the chance of full time football however he has put his longer term career aspirations first. He is a very good player but he is not the finished article and he could have gone elsewhere and not played." "That would have hindered his development so he has shown a lot of maturity to stay here and play. One year of regular first team football here could end up being worth a lot more to Kenny." "We are delighted with the choice he has made."
