Clyde have snapped up experienced midfielder Jon Paul McGovern following his departure from Ladbrokes League 2 rivals Stirling Albion.

The 34-year-old former Livingston, Sheffield Wednesday and Carlisle United player joined the Binos from Ayr United in May but has now made the switch to Broadwood.

Bully Wee boss Barry Ferguson told the club website: "I'm delighted that we've been able to bring JP to Clyde. He's an all-round midfielder and he's a player I was interested in earlier in the year but we weren't able to bring him in at that time.

"I heard that he had been made available on Monday night so I made contact with him and we continued to talk yesterday. There was interest from other clubs but we managed to win the race and finalise the deal last night.

"I'm also at an advanced stage with talks with two more players and I'm hopeful that we'll be able to announce more news before the weekend."
