Clyde’s Hall of Fame Dinner next Friday night at the Hilton Strathclyde in Bellshill will see an entire squad of Bully Wee players honoured for their contribution to the club’s best ever league season.
The Clyde squad from a famous season in Scottish Football, 1966- 1967, will be admitted into the club’s Hall of Fame with event organiser David Macpherson saying: “When we assessed potential entrants into the Hall of Fame, the names of several playing members of the 66-67 squad kept cropping up, as did the manager Davie White.”
“Sadly, Davie's passing last July meant we had to revise our focus and we decided to honour the entire squad, not forgetting Davie, for their remarkable achievements that season.”
"That part-time Clyde team finished third in the top tier of Scottish Football behind a Celtic side who won the league and were crowned Champions of Europe a few weeks later. Rangers came second and they just lost the final of the European Cup Winners Cup at that time as well.”
“Clyde also reached the Scottish Cup semi-final where they held Celtic to a goalless draw before losing the replay 2-0. A great season and they were great players deserving of recognition.”
Clyde used 17 players that season including Harry Hood who went on to play for Celtic.
