Tommy Craig leaves St Mirren

St Mirren manager Tommy Craig has left the Paisley club by mutual consent after only seven months in charge.

St Mirren manager Tommy Craig has left the Paisley club by mutual consent after only seven months in charge.

The former Scotland U21 boss replaced Danny Lennon in May but Saints have struggled this season, winning just two of their 15 Premiership matches and Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to St Johnstone proved to be Craig's last game in charge.

St Mirren are joint bottom of the table with eight points from 15 games, ahead of Ross County on goal difference, as they prepare to face leaders Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.

A club statement read: "It has been confirmed today that St Mirren FC manager Tommy Craig has left the club by mutual consent.

"Player/coach Gary Teale will take charge of the team on an interim basis and will be assisted by Head of Youth Development David Longwell until such times as a successor is appointed.

"The Board of Directors of St Mirren FC would like to thank Tommy for all of his efforts on behalf of the football club during his time as assistant and latterly manager of St Mirren FC and wish him all the best for the future."
