Aberdeen earned a superb 3-0 win against Rijeka in Croatia on Thursday night in the first leg of their Europa League round-two qualifier.

Derek McInnes' men are seeded in Friday's third-round draw and will expect to complete the job at Pittodrie next week after a night to remember on the Croatian coast.

Rijeka took seven points out of nine from their three home games in the group stage last season but the Dons ended their proud record in the Kantrida Stadium.

Defender Andrew Considine opened the scoring late in the first half, Peter Pawlett added the second goal and substitute Kenny McLean sealed a memorable win 15 minutes from time.

Meanwhile, Inverness Caley Thistle's first ever European game ended in a 1-0 home defeat to FC Astra of Romania. John Hughes' team started well but fell behind in 24 minutes and were unable to conjure up an equaliser .
