Aidan Nesbitt scored twice, with Gary Mackay-Steven and Sam Wardrop also on target for Tommy McIntyre's men. Ben Reilly was the Accies goalscorer.

Also on Monday, Hearts defeated Dunfermline 2-1 at Ochilview with a last-minute goal from Ian Smith, which came just after Mikael Antoine-Curier had cancelled out Dario Zanatta's opener.

Five games went ahead on Tuesday, with third-placed Aberdeen beaten 2-1 by Dundee United at Links Park. Scott Wright scored for the Dons but Aidan Connolly and Ali Coote were on target for United.

St Mirren are in fourth spot following a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at Renfrew Juniors. Lewis McLear's opener was cancelled out by Kallum Higginbotham but Josh Beattie scored late on.

Ross County defeated Inverness CT 3-1 in the Highland derby with goals from Ian McShane, Chris Robertson and Greg Morrison.

Late goals from Liam Caddis and George Hunter earned St Johnstone a 2-1 victory over Dundee after Jesse Curran had opened the scoring at Station Park.

Partick Thistle were 2-1 winners away to Falkirk. Andy McCarthy and Neil McLaughlin netted for the Jags while Ryan Blair scored for the Bairns.

Hibernian are due to play Dundee at Ainslie Park on Thursday while Celtic face Inverness CT at Cappielow on Friday.
