Mark Docherty has become Dumbarton's fifth signing of the summer after moving from Championship rivals Alloa on a one-year deal.

New Sons boss Stevie Aitken has already brought in Gregor Buchanan, Grant Gallagher, Kevin Cawley and Darren Miller and the 27-year-old becomes his latest new recruit.

Docherty, who can play in defence or midfield, was previously with St Mirren, Stirling Albion, Brechin City and Annan Athletic.

He told the Dumbarton website: "I enjoyed my time at Alloa and it was sad to leave. I did have a couple of other offers to consider, including a full-time option, but I'm very happy to be here."
