Dumbarton have made experienced defender Andy Dowie their first summer signing following his departure from Queen of the South.
The 34-year-old began his career with Rangers and also played for Brechin City, Partick Thistle, Stranraer, Ross County and Dunfermline before spending four years at Palmerston.
Stevie Aitken's Championship side begin their 2017/18 campaign with a Betfred Cup tie at home to Ayr United on Tuesday July 18.
