Dunfermline continued their superb start to the season with a 7-1 demolition of Cowdenbeath at East End Park on Saturday.

The Pars had won their previous three league and cup games 4-1, 5-1 and 6-1 and Allan Johnston’s men went one better against the Blue Brazil.

Faissal El Bakhtaoui and Joe Cardle scored twice, with Michael Moffat, David Hopkirk and Ryan Wallace also on target. Pat Scullion netted for Cowdenbeath, who had Craig Johnston sent off.

Forfar are second on goal difference in Ladbrokes League 1 following their 4-0 home victory over Albion Rovers. Kevin Nicoll and Danny Denholm were on target and Kerr Hay added a late double for Dick Campbell's team.

Peterhead are in third place after beating Stranraer 4-0 at Stair Park. Rory McAllister grabbed a double and Jordon Brown and Leighton McIntosh also netted.

Ayr United saw off Brechin City 2-1 at Somerset Park with goals from Alan Forrest and Alan Trouten (penalty). Robert Thomson had City briefly level but they ended with 10 men when keeper Graeme Smith saw red in stoppage time.

Substitute Fraser Eddington scored a last-minute winner as Stenhousemuir edged out Airdrieonians 2-1 at Ochilview. Alan Cook opened the scoring but Sean Crighton equalised for the Diamonds, only for Eddington to pounce at the end.
