Elgin manager Wilson steps down

Barry Wilson has resigned as manager of Elgin City after less than 12 months in charge at Borough Briggs.

Barry Wilson has resigned as manager of Elgin City after less than 12 months in charge at Borough Briggs.

The former Wick Academy boss, whose playing career included spells at Raith, Inverness CT, Livingston, Queen of the South and Elgin, replaced Ross Jack in January of this year but the former Highland League club finished ninth in League 2 last season.

Saturday's 4-1 defeat at home to Queen's Park leaves them bottom of the table, with nine points from 12 matches, going into this weekend's game against East Fife at Bayview.

Chairman Martyn Hunter said: "Elgin City Football Club wishes to announce the resignation of Barry Wilson as manager of the club. Barry shares the real disappointment of recent results with both the club officials and supporters alike.

"His contribution to the club both as manager, and previously as assistant manager, is appreciated by the Board and we wish Barry and his family all the best for the future."
