Stranraer have named Stevie Farrell as their new manager following the departure of Brian Reid in the wake of last week's defeat to Stenhousemuir.

Farrell, 43, had a successful spell at Stair Park as No 2 to Stephen Aitken between 2012 and 2015 before following Aitken to Dumbarton.

The former Stoke City and St Mirren player will remain with the Sons for tomorrow's rearranged game against Queen of the South before taking charge of Stranraer next week.

Chris Aitken, who was Reid’s assistant, will be at the helm for this weekend's Scottish Cup clash with Aberdeen at Pittodrie as the Blues attempt to pull off a shock result.
