Edinburgh City's historic SPFL debut ended in a 3-2 defeat to Forfar Athletic at Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday.
Craig Beattie cancelled out an early David Cox penalty but Lewis Milne and Jim Lister struck before Ross Guthrie pulled one back late on. Joe Mbu and Cox saw red at the end.
Title favourites Clyde beat Montrose 2-1 at Broadwood, with Matty Flynn netting the winner after Chris Templeman cancelled out a Dylan Easton goal.
Annan Athletic defeated Stirling Albion 3-2 at Galabank. Sean Dickson had Albion ahead but a Ross Forsyth own goal, David McKenna and Aidan Smith turned things round before Marc McKenzie reduced the deficit.
Chris McLeish got the only goal early in the second half as Elgin City began their campaign with a 1-0 win over Cowdenbeath at Central Park.
Arbroath and Berwick Rangers drew 1-1 at Gayfield. Martin Scott opened the scoring but Steven Thomson equalised for the visitors.
