Forster sets new record

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster set a new Scottish record by notching up a 13th straight league shut-out on Saturday as the Premiership leaders beat Hearts 2-0 at Tynecastle

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster set a new Scottish record by notching up a 13th straight league shut-out on Saturday as the Premiership leaders beat Hearts 2-0 at Tynecastle.

The former Newcastle player surpassed the 1,155-minute landmark without conceding goal, which was set by Bobby Clark of Aberdeen more than 40 years ago.

Forster has not conceded a Premiership goal since Niall McGinn scored for Aberdeen at Celtic Park on November 23.

Parkhead boss Neil Lennon said: “I’m delighted and very proud of the players and very proud of Fraser. It’s a fantastic achievement – the 43-year record broken has been broken.”
