Fowler appointed St Mirren assistant

St Mirren have appointed former Queen of the South boss James Fowler as their new assistant manager.

St Mirren have appointed former Queen of the South boss James Fowler as their new assistant manager.

The ex-Kilmarnock midfielder will work alongside Jack Ross, who was this week named as the successor to Alex Rae. Fowler, 35, left Palmerston in April of this year and played as a trialist for Stirling Albion in last week's 2-0 win at Cowdenbeath.

He told the St Mirren website: “It’s been a whirlwind last 48 hours. With Jack getting the job I just sent him a wee message congratulating him - he said there might be an opportunity to come in and it was something I was really positive about. I’m delighted to be here.”
