Queen of the South have parted company with manager James Fowler, who had been in charge at Palmerston since September 2014.

The former Kilmarnock player took over from Jim McIntyre and guided Queens to the play-offs last season, with the Dumfries side currently seventh in the Ladbrokes Championship.

Assistant manager Gavin Skelton and Jim Thomson will take temporary charge for the remaining games against Livingston at home on Saturday and Hibernian at Easter Road a week on Sunday.

Chairman Billy Hewitson told the club website: “It's always disappointing when a manager leaves - we thank James for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.”
