Gilfillan looks for positive Play-Off experience

Blue Toon midfielder looks for high at Hampden

Peterhead’s Bryan Gilfillan faces Queen’s Park tonight and he is looking to erase a bad memory from his last Play-Off game when he was part of an Annan side that missed out on promotion when they lost to Albion Rovers.

Gilfillan said: “That game was a bit Jekyll and Hyde for me as I went from the high of scoring twice to then getting sent off. The Play-Offs are like that as you can move from highs to lows very quickly.”

“It is great for Queen’s Park, Berwick Rangers and ourselves to have another chance at promotion and in the Play-Offs anything can happen. Two years ago Annan put out Alloa at the Semi-Final stage and that would be looked at as a real surprise result now.”

The 28-year-old started the season playing for Clyde and he is returning to Hampden just 4 days after scoring against the Spiders in the Balmoor side’s 3-0 success and he is looking to repeat the feat for his new side as he said: “I headed in a great cross from David Cox and it is always nice to score there. I have a decent record for goals at Hampden and it is always good to play there as it is a terrific stadium.”

“It has been a strange season for me as in January I thought I was heading out the game. I had been looking to get into the oil industry for a while and when the chance finally came up I had to leave Clyde.”

Balmoor boss Jim McInally quickly arranged a move to the Blue Toon with Gilfillan adding: “Two days after I left Jim called to see if there was anything he could do around working and playing with Peterhead. I am delighted he did as the spirit in this squad is fantastic and everyone works really hard for each other.”

“Our form and confidence is good going into this first leg but we are not getting taken in with our 3-0 win on Saturday as they had a few boys missing.”
