Last-day drama part 2

A 2-1 victory at Ibrox on April 24, 2005 had Martin O'Neill's Celtic on course for the title but when they lost at home to Hibernian the following week it opened a door for Rangers.

On Sunday May 22, Celtic were two points clear of the Light Blues at the top of the table, albeit with an inferior goal difference. That meant they had to win at Motherwell to claim the glittering prize unless Rangers slipped up at Easter Road.

When Chris Sutton fired Celtic ahead it looked all over but Nacho Novo broke the deadlock in Edinburgh with half an hour to go while O'Neill's team missed chances to make the game safe.

They were in sight of glory but with two minutes to go Scott McDonald swept a fine shot beyond Rab Douglas and the Aussie added another goal in injury time as Motherwell won 2-1.

Helicopter Sunday was born and the trophy was soon landing in the capital where Alex McLeish's team celebrated at the end of a day of breathless drama.
