Berwick Rangers manager Colin Cameron praised the goals scored by in-form striker Darren Lavery against East Fife on Saturday but admitted his frustration that the team left the Shielfield pitch empty handed.
The 22-year-old followed up his brace against East Stirlingshire last week with another two goals at the weekend – the first of which was a ferocious first time half-volley from Scott Dalziel’s headed lay-off – taking his tally to nine goals in 16 appearances so far this season.
Speaking about the striker after the 3-2 defeat, Cameron said: “His first goal was an absolutely fantastic strike and the second one showed that bit of predatory instinct.
“That’s four in two for him now so he’s confident, and rightly so, but it’s bitterly disappointing that these two goals have counted for nothing as far as the team is concerned.”
Lavery is in his third full season, having broken into the first team from the club's reserves towards the latter stages of the 2011/12 campaign and has played predominantly in a central role, but also in a wide position under both Cameron and previous manager Ian Little.
And with seven goals in his last seven appearances, the former Leith Athletic player is closing in on the 50-goal milestone for the club, with 46 career goals in 106 games (91 starts and 15 substitute appearances).
