This is how the two clubs reached the final:

Third round

Dundee United 1-0 Dundee
Jaroslaw Fojut headed a last-gasp winner from a corner as Jackie McNamara's men beat their city rivals for the second time in four days. Radoslaw Cierzniak saved a penalty from Greg Stewart and the Dark Blues also had Martin Boyle sent off before the break.

Celtic 3-0 Heart of Midlothian
John Guidetti scored his first Celtic goal and Kris Commons and an Adam Eckersley own goal sealed the win for Ronny Deila's men after Osman Sow had missed a penalty for the visitors.

Quarter-finals

Hibernian 3-3 Dundee United
United progressed 7-6 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw at Easter Road, Conor Townsend converting before David Gray saw his effort saved. The visitors were ahead three times through Chris Erskine, Aidan Connolly and Ryan Dow but Hibernian hit back thanks to goals from Dominique Malonga, Jason Cummings and Matthew Kennedy.

Celtic 6-0 Partick Thistle
Swedish striker John Guidetti grabbed a hat-trick, Leigh Griffiths scored a double after coming on as a substitute and Emilio Izaguirre was also on target against a Thistle side who had Stuart Bannigan sent off just before half-time.

Semi-finals

Dundee United 2-1 Aberdeen
Nadir Ciftci was the hero with a late winner as Dundee United came from behind to knock out the holders. Donervorn Daniels netted a debut goal to put the Dons ahead early in the second half but Callum Morris headed the equaliser and Ciftci pounced with six minutes left to the delight of the United fans in the 29,608 Hampden Park crowd.

Celtic 2-0 Rangers
Celtic claimed a comfortable win at Hampden in the first Old Firm meeting for almost three years. Leigh Griffiths headed home early on and Kris Commons added a superb second goal from distance before half-time.
