Kilmarnock manager Gary Locke has parted company with the club in the wake of their 1-0 home defeat to Hamilton Accies on Saturday.

The 40-year-old former Hearts boss took over from Allan Johnston in February of last year but has now stepped down, with the Ayrshire club occupying the relegation play-off spot in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Lee McCulloch will take charge of the team on an interim basis, assisted by coaches Peter Leven and Alan Robertson. Kilmarnock's next match is against Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup fifth round on Saturday.

A club statement read: "The Board of Directors would like to thank Gary for his time with the club and wish him every success in the future.

"Lee McCulloch is the holder of a UEFA Pro Licence and has been acting as a first-team coach this season, although he remains registered as a player."
