In this week’s Magic Numbers article, we look at five players who have worn the No 17 jersey in Scottish football in recent times…

Ivan Sproule
Had two spells with Hibernian but is best remembered for his first stint with the Easter Road club, which saw him score a hat-trick against Rangers at Ibrox and help John Collins' side beat Kilmarnock 5-1 in the 2006/07 League Cup final. Can also count Institute, Bristol City, Ross County and Linfield among his former clubs. Capped by Northern Ireland and now 35, he came out of retirement this summer to sign for Dergview.

Marc Crosas
The midfielder joined Celtic from Barcelona in August 2008, following a spell on loan at Lyon, and his first goal for the club was a spectacular strike against St Mirren that was voted Clydesdale Bank Goal of the Season. He remained in Glasgow until February 2011 when he switched to Russian side Volga, with Santos Laguna in Mexico his next stopping point. He signed for Cruzl Azul in 2015, the 28-year-old joined Tenerife on loan this summer.

Kevin Muscat
Now head coach of Melbourne Victory, the former Australia defender enjoyed a season to remember with Rangers in 2002/03 as they landed the domestic treble under Alex McLeish. He moved to Ibrox from Wolves then returned south of the border to play for Millwall. Now 43, he took over as boss of Melbourne Victory in October 2013.

Didier Agathe
After spells with Montpellier, Raith Rovers and Hibernian, the attacking right wing-back was snapped up by Celtic manager Martin O'Neill in the early part of his first season at Parkhead in 2000/01. Agathe was expected by many to be a squad player but instead he became a key member of a highly-successful side and played in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final. Joined Aston Villa in 2006 then returned to his homeland of Reunion to play for JS Saint-Pierroise.

Sebastian Sorsa
A Finland internationalist, who began his career with HJK Helsinki, Sorsa joined Accies from Leeds United in August 2008 after failing to break into the first team at Elland Road. He made his debut in a League Cup win over Clyde and also played in a 2-1 victory at Pittodrie but was unable to hold down a regular place and was released in January 2009, returning to HJK.
