Motherwell manager Mark McGhee has announced three new additions to his squad as he builds for season 2016/17.

Central defender Ben Heneghan, 22, has agreed a two-year deal after moving north from National League side Chester while right-back Richard Tait, 26, has signed a three-year contract - the former Tamworth and Cambridge United player was most recently with Grimsby Town.

Striker Jacob Blyth has agreed an initial two-year deal with a further 12-month option and joins from Premier League champions Leicester City. The 23-year-old has spent time on loan with a number of clubs, including Cambridge United and Blackpool last season.

McGhee told the club website: "We are delighted to have secured all three lads, as in each situation we had to battle hard against clubs on both sides of the border.

“All three have been identified via our scouting network, headed up by Martin Foyle, and we’ve really done our homework on them."
