Moore and Lumsden recruit on two joint fronts

Red Lichties duo after players and students

Arbroath management duo of manager Allan Moore and his assistant Todd Lumsden are not just looking to bring new players to Gayfield together they are also looking to bring new students together at Cumbernauld College.

The duo reverse roles during the day where Lumsden is the Curriculum Manager for Football Performance Students and Moore is one of his lecturers with Lumsden saying: “We leave Broadwood where the course is based and I am the boss and by the time we reach training Allan is in charge.  We will move from discussing what our students need to what Arbroath need as we head up the road but the one thing that is consistent is that are spaces available in both places. “

“The course has been running for 7 years now and Allan has worked with us all the time apart from when he was at Morton. He tried to sign me as a player a few times and we have a good relationship which is just as well as see more of each other than anyone.”

“The students train every day with us and also get an education. They could be with us for 2 years as the course allows them to train as a full timer as well as laying the foundations for a HNC or a HND in Sports Coaching. The Term starts the last week of August so people show an interest there is time to get them enrolled.”

Students have progressed to the senior ranks with Lumsden adding: “Blair Munn is now at Stirling and Graham Forsyth has joined Alloa with Callum Robertson getting a professional gig at Raith but it is not just about getting back to a senior level. They leave here with a qualification and that please their parents as that education opens doors for employment in the sport and leisure industry.”

One of the other lecturers is Sandy Clark who now is the assistant manager at Albion Rovers and their respective sides meet tomorrow.

The Staff Room has been louder than normal but not as loud as it could have been with Lumsden saying: “There has been some discussion between Sandy and I over which side will lose their unbeaten run this weekend. Thankfully Allan has had a couple of days off otherwise Sandy’s ears will have been worn out.”
