St Mirren boss Ian Murray has parted company with the Paisley club in the wake of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at former team Dumbarton.

St Mirren boss Ian Murray has parted company with the Paisley club in the wake of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at former team Dumbarton.

Murray took over from Gary Teale in May but Saints have won just two of their 16 games in the Ladbrokes Championship and are only one point above the relegation play-off place.

A St Mirren statement read: "It has been confirmed that St Mirren manager Ian Murray has offered his resignation to the chairman, Stewart Gilmour, which has been accepted.

"We would like to thank Ian for his hard work in his time at the club and we are disappointed that it has not worked out for all parties.

"The club will be making no further comment at this time."
