Dundee United moved level on points with Ladbrokes Championship leaders Hibernian thanks to a 1-0 win over Dunfermline at Tannadice on Tuesday.
The game was rearranged from this Saturday, when the clubs meet again at East End Park in the quarter-finals of the IRN-BRU Cup.
The Pars had Nat Wedderburn sent off for a bad tackle late in the first half and Ray McKinnon's men made the extra man count when Simon Murray struck with 11 minutes left.
The defeat leaves Allan Johnston's men ninth in the table, with nine points from 13 games.
