Naysmith thanks fans for backing

Bayview boss ready for Clyde in second leg

East Fife boss Gary Naysmith has thanked the club’s fans for their support against Clyde on Wednesday night and is hoping that a rousing display from his side in the last 20 minutes will have the supporters backing them noisily tomorrow.

The Fifers went down 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final play-off at Broadwood however Naysmith’s side dominated the closing stages with Bully Wee goalkeeper Jamie Barclay pulling off save after save to keep his side’s slender advantage.

Naysmith said: “We went for it in the last 20 minutes and I thought that when Scott McBride and Nathan Austin came on they gave the fans lots to be excited about. Scott was getting at Clyde on the wing and Nathan was getting on the end of things from his crosses.”

“That really lifted the fans and they gave us great backing as they could see how hard we were trying to get level. It would be great to get the same level of support as we look to get back into the tie at Bayview on Saturday.”
