Naysmith: Title win is career high

Gary Naysmith savoured the best moment of his career as East Fife clinched the Ladbrokes League 2 title at Broadwood on Saturday.

The former Scotland and Everton full-back, now player-boss at Bayview, has guided the Methil club to promotion after a run of just one defeat in their last 15 games.

He told the East Fife website: "It's fantastic for the players. Being part-time we've put in some phenomenal performances this season and it is completely deserved. We've played football in the right way. We've always tried to attack teams and I'm just delighted for them.

"I was speaking with Paul Hartley and he said winning the league with Alloa was the biggest thing he’d achieved in his career. Dougie Anderson (assistant manager) asked me the question and I said I didn’t think anything would beat getting capped for my country but it does."
