Cowdenbeath have appointed Colin Nish as player/manager following the recent departure of boss Jimmy Nicholl from Central Park.
The 34-year-old striker joined the Blue Brazil from Dumbarton in January and has now been handed the task of trying to steer the Fife club back into the Championship following their relegation to League 1.
Nish began his career at Dunfermline and has also played for Alloa, Clyde, Kilmarnock, Hibernian, Hartlepool and Dundee.
His first competitive game in charge of Cowdenbeath will be a Petrofac Training Cup tie on Saturday July 25, with the draw to be made on Monday June 29.
Chairman Donald Findlay told the club website: "I am very pleased that Colin has agreed to accept the appointment as our player/manager. I have no doubt he is the right man for the job and am grateful that he accepted my offer to become our manager.
"He will bring great enthusiasm to the task and we will continue to benefit from his contributions as a player. I hope, and expect, that everyone connected with Cowdenbeath will give him their full backing.
"The club’s ambitions remain undiminished and everything will be done to help him get us back to winning ways after the disappointment of the season just past."
