Pars snap up Paton

Dunfermline have made Queen of the South striker Michael Paton their fourth signing of the summer as they prepare for 2015/16.

The Pars have already recruited defensive trio Jason Talbot (Livingston), Callum Fordyce (Livingston) and Ben Richards-Everton (Partick Thistle) for their Ladbrokes League 1 campaign.

Paton is a former Aberdeen forward, who had a loan spell at Brechin, and East End Park boss Allan Johnston believes he will be an important addition to his squad.

He told the club website: "Michael is somebody who should probably be playing at a higher level so this is going to be a big year for him.

"He has got a bit of everything - he has a bit of pace, he can beat people, he is creative and he can score goals. He gives us options as well because he can play on both sides of the pitch and he can also play in behind the striker."
