Rangers meet Hibernian at Ibrox in the first leg of the Premiership play-off semi-final on Wednesday night, live on BT Sport, kick-off 7.45pm.
The second leg takes place at Easter Road on Saturday, kick-off 12 noon, with the winners up against Motherwell on May 28 and 31 for a place in the Premiership next season.
Rangers manager Stuart McCall is convinced that nothing will be decided in this first 90 minutes and that Saturday’s lunchtime contest will be needed to produce a winner.
The former Bradford City and Motherwell boss said: “Hibs have won at Ibrox this season and we have won at Easter Road so both sides will go into both games knowing they can win.
“I would like us to be heading to Edinburgh with a lead but if it does not happen I know that we can get a result there. Both sides are in decent form and playing with confidence so they are going to be tense affairs.
“There will be a huge crowd at the game and Hibs will be thinking that if they can get a goal early our supporters will get frustrated. It was nervous against Queen of the South on Sunday but we handled the occasion and got through to this stage.”
Hibs filled the gap between the end of the Championship season and the play-off semi-final with a sunshine break in Spain and manager Alan Stubbs is relishing the prospect of two huge matches.
He said: “This will be two very tough games against a Rangers side who have improved recently and are showing a lot of organisation and discipline in their play.
“However, how we tackle the game will be no different. It would be difficult to ask a team to go to Ibrox and come home with a draw or just hang in there to get some sort of decent result ahead of the second game.
“It is better if you go there and try to win and that is how we have played all season anyway. We have always tried to be as positive as possible and the players have a freedom to go out and win games. I will not change anything for this game but I also know that nothing will be won or lost on Wednesday night.”
