Raith Rovers have parted company with manager Grant Murray in the wake of Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Livingston at Stark’s Park.

Raith Rovers have parted company with manager Grant Murray in the wake of Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Livingston at Stark’s Park.

The former Hearts player had been in charge since July 2012 and led the Kirkcaldy club to Challenge Cup glory against Rangers 12 months ago.

Rovers reached the Scottish Cup quarter-finals this season and have secured their Championship status for another year but the club have opted to make a change and first-team coach Laurie Ellis will take the team for Saturday’s game at Dumbarton.

A club statement read: “Grant’s three-year tenure has included an unforgettable Ramsdens Cup win and two Scottish Cup quarter-finals, while Championship status has been maintained.

“However, recent performances and results have led to today’s parting of ways. Grant has been an extremely hard-working manager, and we wish him well in his future career within football.”
