Raith Rovers appoint McKinnon

Raith Rovers have named Ray McKinnon as their new manager following the recent departure from Stark's Park of Grant Murray.

Raith Rovers have named Ray McKinnon as their new manager following the recent departure from Stark's Park of Grant Murray.

The former Dundee United and Nottingham Forest midfielder makes the move from Brechin City, where he had been in charge since October 2012.

McKinnon, 44, won three Manager of the Month awards in 2014/15 as he led City to the play-offs in League 1 but they were narrowly beaten by Alloa.

He has previous managerial experience with Lochee United and worked with the Scottish FA before taking up his post at Glebe Park.

Raith Rovers chief executive Eric Drysdale told the club website: "As promised, the board has taken great care in its search for someone to replace Grant Murray.

"We spoke in detail to four of the very best candidates from a very long list of applicants. Only one, Ray, was formally offered the job and we are very pleased that he has accepted. Ray ticks all the boxes for us, and we are confident he can take the club forward from here.”
